Melina Chatzikamanou and Filippos Kesapidis present a beautiful re-performance of the song “Dio poulopa kelaidoun” (Two birds are singing) by Kostas Karapanagiotidis. This song was released in 1982 in the album “Karapanagiotidis No8” on which the late Dimitris Kougioumtzidis played the lyra. Along with other songs on the record, this song stood out and remained well known to this day.
Today this song appears again with the sweet voice of Melina Chatzikamanou and the lyra of Filippos Kesapidis, both notable artists well known in the Pontic musical repertoire. Stavros Toulkeridis accompanies them on the accordion, giving a different air to the song. Christos Kaliontzidis played guitars and was responsible for the programming of the song, while he undertook all the recording, mixing and mastering at the Argo Records studio. The orchestration of the song is credited to Filippos Kesapidis and Christos Kaliontzidis.
The lyrics and music of the song are by Kostas Karapanagiotidis.
Today, 40 years after the release of this song, we have the pleasure of hearing it from Melina and Filippos. It gives us happiness to see that along with all the traditional songs, songs from great artists who wrote their own history decades ago (and continue to) are still being performed, and the younger generations are able to enjoy them years later.
We wish much success to all contributors and hope to enjoy more gems like this from Melina Chatzikamanou and Filippos Kesapidis.
