The days of Christmas this year are very different from all we have known and experienced so far due to the pandemic. Unable to celebrate them with the traditional customs, we thought, together with our holiday wishes, to prepare a video with the Pontian Christmas Carols, performed gracefully by the charismatic Anastasia Valavanidou from Thessaloniki.
THE 10 YEAR OLD GREEK GIRL
In May 2020, the young artist makes Greece proud in an International Music Competition, winning First Place in song, co-presentation and Grand Prix in painting.
At the age of nine, the charismatic Anastasia Valavanidou, a fourth grade student at the time, in the middle of quarantine, representing Greece wins first place by participating in the online world art competition (Star Flowers the Best) that took place in Belarus a few days prior. Tireless, hardworking, with developed emotional intelligence and hope for the future, she managed to win the best impressions from the very first moment. Anastasia enchanted the audience in the marathon competition that lasted 11 whole hours and brought her to the podium as a winner. At the same time, she advertised the beauties of Greece, specifically Halkidiki and Thessaloniki, via the internet and was crowned internationally, as the first presenter of her age. She presented live the gala of the winners. In addition, she was awarded the Grand Prix of painting as her work impressed the judges. This triple award and first place brought our country to the highest position internationally in such a competition.
As a very talented child, Anastasia has been involved in music, singing, painting, hip-hop and modeling since she was very young. She plays the piano, learns foreign languages and has represented Greece in many international competitions with many distinctions each time (Georgia 2018, United Kingdom 2019, Ukraine 2019, Belarus 2019, Israel 2019, Belarus 2020, Malta 2020, USA 2020). Among 160 entries from children from 15 countries around the world, she was selected to sing in an Israeli song contest, was crowned the first Greek woman in the 2019 Crown of Mediterranean Sea contest and left an indelible mark on the day of remembrance of the 1919-2019 Pontian Genocide . Dressed in traditional clothing in a modern style, she walked with grace and pride holding in her hands two candles in memory of the genocidal Pontians, gaining impressions and receiving positive comments.
Anastasia passionately loves music and song but also the animals and plants she deals with every day. Her dream is to travel the world with her voice.
At this time Anastasia is preparing her reports, which will be presented twice a month with a different topic each time, for the channel of the Star Flowers competition in Belarus. She has been chosen to be the one who will represent Greece in the competition in May.
